Long Distance Qualification

We can qualify you long distance!
Long Distance qualification is available only in areas where a certified Bright & Beautiful Therapy Dogs, Inc. evaluator is not available (more than two hours away).

To qualify long distance for membership with The Bright & Beautiful Therapy Dogs, Inc. as a therapy dog/handler team you must meet the following requirements:

A copy of your dog’s AKC Canine Good Citizen® Award certificate or test results. If you’re not familiar with this title you can look at the AKC’s website: www.AKC.org and search for the Canine Good Citizen page.

Two written professional references (i.e., someone in the “dog world” such as a trainer, groomer, veterinarian, etc.). The reference needs to comment on your dog’s temperament as related to therapy dog work.

A reference from a facility or a private home where you have begun volunteering with your dog as a therapy dog. The reference needs to comment on how you and your dog work as a team helping others.

Please also include a note or email to tell us why you are interested in doing therapy dog work. Mail or email the above items to our offices and we will review the qualifications. Please include your name, address, telephone number (s), and email address. Long distance registrations are $20.00 for each therapy dog team (a handler and dog is a team).

The first step is the certification. After you are certified long distance, the second step is to register for membership with The Bright & Beautiful Therapy Dogs, Inc.  The two steps together are required to join B&BTD.
